About Us
Founded in 2003, The Exam Centre of Ireland Ltd (fondly known as The English Academy) is a Cambridge English Platinum and Teaching Awards Centre. The gold standard teaching qualification
CELTA is a qualification for teaching English as a foreign language. It focuses on developing practical skills with real practical teaching practice, which will provide you with the techniques and confidence you need to begin teaching as soon as you finish the course.
Simple steps to succeed
Step 1:
Contact us by email or phone for an application form that includes a language awareness task.
Step 2:
You will then be given a short interview by phone, Skype, What’s App or Zoom.
Step 3:
Once accepted, your place is confirmed on receipt of a 20% deposit.
Step 4:
Complete the course. Graduate. Start your teaching adventure anywhere in the world!
Requirements for part-time online CELTA

A reliable internet connection.
A stable internet connection of at least 5mbps download, preferably >15mbps
A desktop or laptop computer
A mobile phone, tablet or chromebook is not suitable for this course. You will be typing regularly and will need to have a word processing package such as Microsoft office or Openoffice. You will also be given access to dropbox.
A webcam attached to the computer you are using
The online CELTA is an interactive course and you will be engaging with live tutors and students in the teaching practice classes daily.
Microphone and speakers or suitable headset
We recommend testing your current equipment on zoom.us/test in advance of the course to ensure everything is working properly.
Suitably quiet place at home to work without distractions
CELTA is a stressful, tiring course. We say it’s like 4 weeks out of your life. Therefore it’s crucial you talk with your family or housemates about the commitments you’ll have to make prior to enrolling.
